Sensor Technician


We are seeking a sensor technician. This role works in a clean lab working with sensors and optic lasers on testing, research, and development of effective sensor technology. This position works closely with vendors for quality assurance of all procured parts and is solely responsible for all R.M.A’s (return merchandise authorization) within MiCROTEC.

Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Build electrical cards for customers to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Order and maintain all supplies needed for project builds of sensors
  • Manage R.M.A’s for all sensor, scanner, and mechanical parts
  • Test all incoming parts from vendors before applying to in-house machines
  • Responsible for basic computer software testing for different parts within lab
  • Utilize tools and resources in testing lab safely
  • Complete other duties laid out by manager relevant to workload


  • U.L. certified or willing to become certified with in first year of hire
  • Min 12 months experience related to sensor building/repair or related field
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology
  • A high standard of quality and attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and work from schematics
  • Excellent people skills with a can-do attitude
  • Must be very detailed oriented and strive to achieve high quality results
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, organize, and adhere to written procedures
  • Professionalism, a positive attitude, and willingness to work as a team
  • Maintenance experience preferred
  • Technical school attendance preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and support others with team lifts
  • Ability to work safely with tools like wire cutters, screwdrivers, etc
  • Ability to differentiate cable colors as well as various audible tones
  • Ability to sit, stand and twist for long periods of time
  • Visual acuity to operate powered equipment (vision)
  • Can convey important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and quickly (talking)
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather, but not necessarily from temperature changes
