Scanner Technician (Vancouver, BC)

Overview

The Scanner Technician will provide service, installation, and production of lumber grading systems

Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Performs mechanical, electrical, and network installation of systems
  • Setup and install software on computers
  • Travel both domestically and internationally up to 33% of the time
  • Work with the entire MiCROTEC team and interact successfully with all staff to ensure the best
    results possible for the customer
  • Provides customer support by answering questions and troubleshooting issues, both onsite at
    customer locations and remotely via phone or email
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components, electrical components, computer hardware
    and computer software, as needed
  • Perform scheduled maintenance visits, both remotely and onsite at customer locations
  • Assist the manufacturing department in the production of new builds
  • Setup computers in preparation of system testing and shipment
  • Calibrate and test new systems as needed
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed
    safety regulations
  • Collaborate with other department members to ensure the best results

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented and extremely accurate
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Proficient in related computer software and technologies including Microsoft Office Suite and
    basic networking
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in mechanical or electrical
    engineering highly desired
  • Two years of related mechanical and electrical experience required
  • Ability to commute or plan to relocate to Vancouver, BC before starting work

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in sawmill or planer mill environment
  • Experience in basic electrical wiring or reading prints
  • Ability to install computer programs and navigate windows environment
  • Network setup
  • Maintenance experience
  • Experience in sawmill or planer mill environment
